The result is a talent pool that has moved bidirectionally: lab to startup, startup to lab, and back again.

For engineers and technical founders, this matters in a few ways. First, the social graph between YC alumni and lab researchers is now thick enough to function as an informal hiring and intelligence network. Context about model capabilities, safety constraints, and internal roadmaps travels through these connections faster than public releases reflect.
